Vice Chancellor Sets the Tone for a Meaningful Academic Journey
July 21, 2025

The Autumn Semester began with renewed energy and optimism as the Vice Chancellor of the Royal University of Bhutan, Dasho Chewang Rinzin, visited the College of Science and Technology (CST) to meet with the staff and first-year students. His presence marked a significant moment, setting a positive and inspiring tone for the new academic year.

Addressing the fresh cohort, Dasho spoke about the importance of beginning their university life with clear intentions and a sense of purpose. He encouraged students to start mapping out a thoughtful academic journey for the next 4–5 years—one that balances academic excellence with the development of essential life and professional skills. Dasho reminded them that university life, though seemingly long, passes by swiftly, and urged students to envision the kind of people they aspire to become and the goals they wish to accomplish before their graduation.

In his remarks, Dasho also highlighted the transformative opportunities on the horizon with the development of the Gelephu Mindfulness City. He emphasized that these emerging prospects would demand individuals equipped not only with strong theoretical knowledge but also with practical competence, creativity, and adaptability. The Vice Chancellor expressed confidence that CST students, with the right mindset and preparation, would be well-positioned to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s future.

Reflecting on his own recent appointment, Dasho shared that he, too, is at the beginning of a new journey. He expressed his enthusiasm about progressing alongside the first-year students—learning, growing, and striving together. His words reinforced the message that education is a shared path, shaped through collaboration, curiosity, and mutual support.

Dasho concluded his address with an inspiring reminder for students to embrace the coming years with openness and commitment. He urged them to explore new ideas, engage deeply with their studies, participate actively in college life, and cultivate the values that will guide their personal and professional lives.

His message left students and staff alike feeling motivated, hopeful, and ready to embark on a meaningful and fulfilling academic journey ahead.
