Coinciding with the Coronation Day of His Majesty the Fifth Druk Gyalpo, the College of Science and Technology (CST) proudly organized a marathon event themed “Running for Climate Resilience.” The initiative served not only as a tribute to the visionary leadership of His Majesty but also as a meaningful platform to promote climate awareness and resilience among communities.

The event was made possible through the generous support of the ECRUL Project, funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented by the Royal Government of Bhutan (RGoB) in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

A total of 265 participants enthusiastically took part in the event. The diverse group included representatives from schools under Phuentsholing Thromde, officials from the Royal Bhutan Police, staff from the Bank of Bhutan, and a large number of students and faculty from CST. Their collective presence highlighted a shared sense of duty toward addressing climate change and promoting resilience at both individual and community levels.

Despite a light drizzle that persisted throughout the morning, the participants demonstrated unwavering determination and commendable spirit.

The event, regarded as one of the most anticipated activities of the academic year, concluded with resounding success. It left behind a powerful message of solidarity, environmental responsibility, and the importance of community engagement in safeguarding Bhutan’s future.
