Background

The CST Environmental Club referred Rangzin Thuendrel Tshogpa at the College of Science and Technology is a student-led initiative dedicated to promoting environmental conservation awareness, stewardship, and sustainable practices in alignment with the nation’s philosophy of Gross National Happiness. Open to students from all programs and supported by faculty advisors, the club engages in a wide range of activities including awareness campaigns, tree planting, waste management initiatives and community outreach programs. Through its efforts, the CST Environmental Club plays a vital role in nurturing environmentally responsible graduates who can contribute meaningfully to Bhutan’s sustainable development goals.

Currently for 2025-2026 year, it is coordinated by Mr. Sangay Thinley (4th year electrical) and Mr. Sonam Lotey (4th year electrical), operating under the guidance of advisor, Mr. Chimi.

Purpose

    1. To promote environmental awareness.
    2. To inspire action and community engagement.
    3. To engage in advocacy and outreach
    4. To cultivate leadership and responsibility.

Mission

The CST Environmental Club is committed to fostering sustainability, raising ecological awareness, and driving actionable change within our college and beyond by empowering students through education, practical projects, and advocacy to become environmental stewards.

Vision

The club envisions a community living in harmony with nature, fostering sustainability through waste reduction, resource conservation, and eco-friendly practices, while nurturing future environmental leaders.

Membership

Who Can Join:

Membership is open to all students and faculty members of the CST who have an interest in environmental protection, sustainability, and energy efficiency.

Leadership eligibility: To be eligible for the position of Environmental Coordinator, a member must have completed a minimum of three years of active participation in the Environmental Club.

 

Councilor Selection:

Every year, interested and eligible candidates for the position of Environmental Councilor are selected through a voting process conducted by the club’s active members

Membership Participation Requirements:

Regular attendance is required for active participation, and members with frequent unexcused absences may be removed to ensure commitment.

Service Requirement for membership Certificate

To be eligible for the CST Environmental Club certificate, members must have actively served in the club for a minimum of four years, demonstrating consistent participation and contribution to its activities.
